The international train “Kyiv – Chisinau – Kyiv” from “Ukrzaliznytsia”, launched in November 2022 after a 24-year break, was included in the top of the best railway routes in Europe for 2023.
According to the popular international travel portal Lonely Planet, which compiled this rating, the continuous operation of Ukrainian railways, even more, or less according to schedule, became a symbol of stability during the brutal Russian invasion. And although it will still take time before travelers from outside Ukraine start traveling to Kyiv again, the renewal of the route between Kyiv and Chisinau is significant.
The publication also reminds us that this route includes a stop at the Ungeny station in the west of Moldova, from where you can easily reach the Romanian city of Iasi, whose airport is one of the key ones for the residents of Ukraine, who currently do not have civil air connections with the rest of the world due to the war.
