The City Hall of Ukraine reported that the Russians attacked the Mariupol Drama Theater. According to Deputy Mayor Serhiy Orlov, between 1,000 and 1,200 people are hiding there.
The number of victims is still unknown, Orlov added. The central part of the building, as well as the entrance to the bomb shelter were destroyed after the bombing.
Mariupol is surrounded by Russian troops, leaving about 300,000 people without water, electricity and gas. Food and medicine are running out, and Russia has not authorized the delivery of humanitarian aid, according to British media.
Since the beginning of the war, the city has been under constant fire from the Russians, and entire neighborhoods have become wastelands. Five people were killed in a hospital attack last week. Orlov also said that Russia had attacked a convoy of civilians on its way from Mariupol to Zaporizhia, injuring five civilians, including a child.
