The option of Ukraine being a neutral country according to the Swedish model is being discussed. This can be considered a compromise option, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters today, answering questions, reports TASS.
Earlier, Vladimir Medinsky, Russia’s chief negotiator with Ukrainians and an aide to President Vladimir Putin, said Kyiv was proposing to create an “Austrian or Swedish version of a neutral demilitarized state” in Ukraine.
Peskov did not comment on the “Swedish version” as the basis for a possible compromise with Ukraine. “I prefer not to go into details. I would like to emphasize once again that in the context of the ongoing negotiations, further elaboration of this issue is impossible,” he explained.
Earlier, the DIP reported that Lavrov said that negotiations with Ukraine are difficult, but there is hope for a compromise, read the details at the link.
