Moscow has accused the United States of obstructing talks between Russia and Ukraine, according to AFP. “Negotiations are difficult, the Ukrainian side is constantly changing its position. It is difficult to get rid of the impression that our American colleagues are holding hands,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking to students at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
“The United States is simply on the principle that it is not in their interest for this process to end quickly,” Lavrov said. “Western countries want to play the role of mediators. We are not against this idea, but we have our “red lines”, – said the Russian minister.
Sergei Lavrov accused the West of “pumping Ukraine with weapons”, the goal of which, according to the minister, is to prolong the duration of hostilities between Moscow and Kiev. Lavrov also said that Poland’s idea to send NATO peacekeepers to Ukraine could lead to a clash between Russia and NATO, according to Reuters.
“I hope they understand what they are saying,” he said. “What is happening in the world now is connected not so much with Ukraine as with attempts to form a new world order,” Lavrov said, TARS reports.
