Prior to the start of the negotiation process in Turkey, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said his main goal was a ceasefire.
For his part, President Volodymyr Zelensky insists: “We do not trade in people, land or sovereignty.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s talks with the presidents of Ukraine and Russia are moving in a “positive direction”. Erdogan himself stated this at a regular briefing after the government meeting. The president did not provide further details.
Negotiators on both sides are due to begin a two-day face-to-face meeting in Istanbul on Tuesday.
