Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that after the next round of talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul there were no breakthroughs, but welcomed the written demands of Ukraine.
“It is positive that the Ukrainian side has at least started to concretely formulate and present on paper what it offers,” Peskov told reporters at a regular conference. “Elsewhere, we can’t say anything promising, we can’t say any breakthroughs. There is a lot of work ahead,” he added.
Peskov also said that the head of the Russian delegation Vladimir Medinsky is expected to provide updated information on the results of the bilateral talks held in Istanbul on Tuesday later Wednesday.
It will be recalled that the talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul covered a number of important issues, including the future of eastern Donbass, the fate of Crimea, a broad alliance of security guarantors and a potential meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
