Despite the pandemic and quarantine restrictions, the capital’s budget for 2021 received UAH 76 million of tourist tax, which indicates the successful development of the tourism sector in the city.
According to Ukrinform, a deputy of the Kyiv City Council, chairman of the Standing Committee on Culture, Tourism and Public Communications Victoria Mukha spoke about this, the press service of the Kyiv City Council reports.
According to Mucha, Kyiv’s tourism industry is showing record financial performance, which is evidence of the successful development of the tourism industry in the capital.
“Tourism is a promising area that needs to be developed. Therefore, the city authorities will continue to work on improving the image of Kiev as a tourist city in order to increase the number of tourists. Last year, the capital received UAH 76 million of tourist tax revenues to the local budget, which is a record figure compared to previous years. This indicates the successful implementation of the tourism development policy and the joining of efforts with the public sector,” the deputy said.
According to her, despite the fact that the possibilities for movement and travel in the world are limited due to the pandemic, Kiev, according to preliminary data, was visited by 900,000 foreign and more than 2 million domestic tourists.
“This is facilitated by the historical heritage, beauty and grandeur of our Kiev, the city’s support for various cultural and artistic events, as well as the popularization and distribution of a high-quality cultural and artistic product to meet the needs of both Kiev residents and guests of the capital. Consequently, the city authorities will continue to make the necessary efforts for the effective development of Kiev as a progressive and attractive city for tourists,” Mukha said.
The MP added that historical, cultural, event, medical, business and gastronomic tourism were identified as priority areas for further activities in the field of tourism this year.
As reported, Ukraine in 2021 was most visited by tourists from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Canada and the United States.
