Hotelbeds announced the termination of work in Russia, Belarus and partly in Ukraine

Carlos Muñoz, Commercial Director of the European B2B hotel booking system, today informed partners about a number of extremely unpleasant decisions regarding cooperation with the markets of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.

“As the situation in Ukraine continues to evolve, it is becoming clear that the region is going through an extremely complex and complex crisis.

Our thoughts are with all of our partners in Ukraine and beyond who have been affected by this devastating conflict. We continue to provide all possible support to them at this extremely difficult time.

We are also focused on supporting our employees affected by these circumstances, and in addition, we are contributing to the humanitarian efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

In order to ensure clarity and a clear understanding of our position in light of the security situation in Ukraine and as a result of the economic sanctions imposed on Russia and Belarus, we have adopted the following decisions today, which will take effect immediately.”

The essence of the sanctions set out in the appeal.

The service will introduce a ban on the sale of hotel rooms in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.

Will block the possibility of booking hotels for those who apply to the system from Russia and Belarus. And there is no difference, we are talking about Russian or foreign hotels.

Hotelbeds also announced the cancellation of all future bookings made at hotels located in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. From arrivals dated March 12, 2022, the force majeure clause of the contract will apply. This rule is introduced for three months, while Hotelbeds itself will waive “all cancellation fees, including NRF bookings.”

One expert commented: “The bottom line is that Hotelbeds has joined the anti-Russian sanctions in the most severe way.”

For reference: Hotelbeds is a Spanish company founded in 2001. Experts consider it one of the world’s largest B2B online hotel room aggregators. In 2007, the company became part of the international tour operator TUI Travel PLC.
