Britain has said that Ukraine’s air defense systems are successfully countering Russian fighters and may not allow Russia to establish control over Ukraine’s airspace, according to Reuters. “Ukraine’s air defenses appear to have made significant progress in the fight against Russia’s advanced military aircraft and are likely to prevent it from achieving any degree of control over Ukraine’s airspace,” British military intelligence said on Twitter. It says Russia has also failed to make significant strides in fighting northwest of Kyiv.
Meanwhile, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said that his country is studying the possibility of transferring to Ukraine anti-aircraft missiles produced by the French company Thales Group, according to Reuters.
“It is vital for Ukraine to maintain its ability to fly and withstand Russian air strikes,” Wallace told the British Parliament. In response to Ukraine’s demands, the government decided to study the possibility of providing high-speed portable Starstrick anti-aircraft missile systems.
