After assessing the current situation with COVID-19, the French authorities have decided to remove 12 third countries from the red list and place them in orange.
The countries excluded from the red list included Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, as well as nine South African countries – Mozambique, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Namibia, which were previously banned from entering for the wide distribution of the Omicron variant in their territory.
Two more countries also moved to the “orange” list. However, they were previously on the green list. The countries that have been moved from green to orange are Australia and Argentina.
In contrast to the above countries, in Australia and Argentina, the situation with COVID-19 worsened. For this reason, these two countries were moved from green to orange list.
This means that travelers from countries that have moved from red to orange will now be subject to less restrictive entry rules when entering France, while travelers from Argentina and Australia will have to follow additional entry rules.
All persons entering France from countries included in the “orange” list are exempted from the requirement of self-isolation, provided they have a valid vaccination certificate.
In addition, everyone, even those who are fully vaccinated or who have recovered from the virus, must present a negative test result taken within 48 hours prior to arrival in France.
On the other hand, unvaccinated travelers from the orange country must self-isolate for seven days after arriving in France.
France also has a “red list”. The current red list includes Afghanistan, Belarus, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Georgia, Nigeria, Mauritius, Montenegro, Pakistan, Suriname, Tanzania, Turkey and the United States of America.
Currently, fully vaccinated travelers from countries on the Red List can enter Spain without restrictions, provided they pass a pre-entry test. In contrast, unvaccinated travelers must quarantine for ten days after entering the country.
As for the countries of the European Union and the Schengen area, all of them are currently on the “green list” of France, which means that they can enter the country under the rules of facilitated entry, provided that they meet all the necessary requirements.
Earlier, France tightened COVID-19 measures for everyone, including tourists. Moreover, the authorities have announced that all persons over the age of 18 will be required to be re-vaccinated in order for their vaccination certificate to remain valid. This requirement applies to anyone who received their last dose of vaccine more than seven months ago.
