The most “hot” Ukrainian and Russian tourists have found a neutral “battlefield” – the tourist cities of Turkey. According to the tourist portal, there have already been many clashes and open conflicts between the parties. We are talking about verbal attacks and fights, as well as damage to property. At the same time, local authorities have stated that they will not allow aggression and conflicts on national grounds among their guests.
According to media reports, about 60,000 Ukrainian and Russian citizens have moved to the Republic of Turkey since the beginning of the war on February 24, according to the same estimates. The goals of visitors are different: some come for a long time, others – in transit, choosing a different direction. They clearly do not mention the brotherhood of nations, but immediately raise their fists.
“Examples of conflicts and aggression already exist, there are no examples of punishment at the moment,” the blogger wrote.
Here are some of them:
- “According to the residents of Antalya, a representative of a well-known Ukrainian city society posted a post on one of the social networks, where she openly threatened Russian citizens living and coming to Antalya.”
- “In Alanya, Russians allow themselves to insult aggressive statements to outsiders with Ukrainian citizenship symbols or symbols of support for Ukraine, for which they receive a beating.”
- “There have been cases of refusal to rent apartments to representatives of both nationalities.”
- “According to Alanya bloggers, car dealerships in Alanya, which inspect and repair cars, report that they began to receive cars covered in paint, scratched with sharp objects. Residents also warn about cut tires and recommend leaving cars under cameras.”
Fearing negative developments between the parties, the Antalya provincial government said a few days ago that “no manifestation of national hostility is acceptable in the tourist region and Turkey as a whole.”
“If citizens of any country living or vacationing in Turkey show open aggression towards other people, they will be deprived of Turkish citizenship or residence permit, fined and deported,” the Russian administration said.
What to do to tourists who have faced attacks from national signs?
Russophobia “flourishes”. According to the Russian community in Antalya, in the last week alone, the city prosecutor’s office has received more than 200 statements from Russian tourists about threats and insults on national grounds.
In general, tourists were warned that anyone who experiences aggression on national grounds has the right to apply to the gendarmerie or prosecutor’s office. Ukrainians will be assisted in the Ukrainian community with the preparation and translation of documents.
In addition, both sides have the right to file a complaint against threats from all those who officially reside in Turkey to the Presidential Administration through the official website cimer.gov.tr.
In order to help quickly in case of an emergency, the blogger advised to install the Kades application on her mobile phone, originally created to protect women from domestic violence, but now relevant in other criminal situations. When you press one button in the program, a call is sent to the police. This option will be useful if the tourist is in danger or he witnesses a conflict, quarrel or fight. However, a Turkish residence permit is required for registration.
