The population of the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv is left without water, heat and electricity due to the destruction caused by the war, DPA reports, citing a telegram from the head of the regional administration Vyacheslav Chaus.
Russian troops continue the siege of the northern Ukrainian city, according to DPA.
According to the regional administration, to date, gas supply has not been completely stopped. The city’s infrastructure was destroyed as a result of “continuous fighting”, but work is underway to eliminate the damage, Chaus wrote in the Telegram.
Russian troops have been keeping the city in northern Ukraine under siege for some time. Chernihiv is located on a key road that connects the areas bordering Russia and Belarus with Kyiv.
Mayor Vladislav Atrozhenko said yesterday that the city was “completely devastated” by Russian troops. He said more than 200 civilians had been killed in recent weeks, and more than half of the city’s 285,000 people had fled the war before the war.
