Russia’s missile strikes on a Ukrainian base near the Polish border are a matter of serious concern, but do not deprive Britain of the opportunity to provide Ukraine with defense weapons, said a spokesman for the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, quoted by Reuters.
The British government announced its position after the Russian Ministry of Defense said that “foreign mercenaries and a large number of foreign weapons” were destroyed during the attack on military facilities in western Ukraine.
Today, a spokesman for the British Prime Minister called the Russian attack in question “very alarming.”
Asked whether the Russian strikes would stop Britain from sending new weapons, he said: “No. We will definitely continue to provide the Ukrainian government with defensive lethal weapons. It is very important that we do that, we know that it is useful, we know that their deployment was successful,” he explained.
