Turkey’s health tourism sector tops $10 billion in revenue

Treatment in Turkey is very popular among residents of many countries of the world, especially from the European Union. This was announced by the head of the International Antalya Health Tourism and Education Association (UASTED) Mehmet Kanpolat.

Kanpolat noted that the country’s health tourism sector has already surpassed the target set for 2023 by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The sector’s revenues have crossed the mark of $10 billion a year, the head of UASTED stated.

The head of the organization said that foreigners mainly come to Turkey for dental treatment, oncological and aesthetic surgeries.

He also drew attention to the fact that in recent years the number of patients from Turkish-speaking countries has increased in Turkey.

“The volume of the health tourism market in the world reaches $100 billion. Thanks to the investments of the last ten years, Turkey has become one of the top five in the health tourism sector,” Kanpolat said.

At the same time, he noted that after the start of the war in Ukraine, the number of patients from Russia in medical institutions in Turkey increased. “I am sure that after the end of the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, the interest of citizens of these countries in treatment in Turkey will be high,” said the head of UASTED.
