Swiss biotech company develops tests to detect monkeypox

Swiss biotech company Roche has announced that it has developed three test kits to detect the monkeypox virus, Reuters reported.

The information was made public against the backdrop of the spread of the disease in Europe and North America – regions where the virus is not usually found.

Smallpox is a virus transmitted to humans from animals, with symptoms such as fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes.

Most human cases of the virus occur in Central and West Africa, where the disease is endemic.

However, on May 20, it became known that the disease had been detected in many other countries, including the UK, Spain, Belgium, France, Sweden, Italy, Australia, Germany, and Canada.
