Mass bankruptcy of hotels and restaurants begins in Europe

High prices threaten to bankrupt hotels, restaurants, cafes, and bars across Europe. So much so that the European hotel association Hotrec has called on European energy ministers to take immediate action to lower energy prices for the hospitality industry.

This letter was sent to the EU energy ministers. It states that the costs of all these and other enterprises in the electricity sector have increased by 200-600%. As a result, they may begin to go bankrupt if precautions are not taken and energy prices are not reduced.

Hotel also drew attention to the importance of the accommodation sector of the economy. “Most – 90% of enterprises working in the field of tourism throughout Europe are small enterprises. Their number is 2 million, and these enterprises employ 12 million people. This problem needs to be solved immediately,” the association urged.
