“Preparation was an important part. This is the second attempt to build a bridge. The most difficult stage of the work was laying steel piles on the bottom of the bay, which ended two years ago, “said project manager Goran Legak of Croatian Roads before adding.

“The speed limit on the bridge will be 90 km per hour, and in addition to double lanes in each direction there will be stop lines.”

Additional work will now be carried out on the bridge, such as welding of all protrusions, waterproofing, pavement, fencing and protection of AKZ.

Although the bridge is already connected, work still needs to be done before it opens to the public. In particular, it is necessary to complete about 30 kilometers of access roads to the bridge. Work on the access roads is expected to be completed by the start of next year’s tourist season.

“The bridge will be completed by June next year. We are thinking about a technical inspection in February next year, and the access roads will be ready by June, “Legak said.

The facility surrounds Bosnia and Herzegovina (which has a 20-kilometer access to the sea) and is a direct link between the main part of Croatia and southern Dalmatia, where Dubrovnik is located, popular with tourists .

Peleshak Bridge is 2.4 km long and rises to a height of 55 meters. It has four lanes for cars.

The event was marked by a special ceremony and salute in the presence of the Prime Minister of Croatia Andriy Plenković.
