The lower house of the Belarusian parliament has ratified a number of agreements on military cooperation with Russia, its press service quoted TARS as saying today.
According to the Belarusian official news agency BelTA, these documents cover, in particular, Moscow’s use of the Vileyka radio station, the Russian Navy’s communications center, and the agreement on the completion and use of the Baranovichi missile warning system node, two facilities located in Belarus.
Deputies also ratified amendments to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) peace agreement. The mechanism of participation of peacekeeping forces of the organization in operations under the auspices of the UN was specified. This will significantly expand the scope of their actions in the performance of tasks related to the maintenance of international peace and security, will help strengthen the image and authority of the CSTO in the international arena, the statement said.
