New Zealand, Norway, and Australia have been named the best destinations for green and active travelers in 2023. This became known from the results of a study of the online vacation booking service Hipcamp.
So, the first place in the ranking was taken by New Zealand with the best indicators of the attractiveness of natural resources, the area of green areas, and air pollution. The line below is Norway, and Australia close to the top three, which, in terms of the number of locations from the UNESCO World Heritage List (14), is second only to China (15).
Fourth place went to Austria, where the highest level of search queries on the Internet related to tourist and natural attractions, and the fifth – from Iceland. On the sixth line is another European country – Spain, and on the seventh – Costa Rica. The top 10 best destinations for outdoor enthusiasts are Portugal, Canada, and Switzerland.
The country with the most stable ecology is Switzerland, the country with the cleanest air in Finland, the country with the largest number of parks and green areas is Slovenia, and Luxembourg has the highest percentage of protected natural spaces.
The service experts analyzed countries according to several criteria: environmental sustainability, the number of UNESCO natural sites, picturesqueness, air pollution levels, the quality of parks and green spaces, the percentage of protected natural areas, and digital tourism demand.
Earlier in October, according to the results of the international award Readers’ Choice Awards, French Polynesia was recognized as the best country to visit in 2022. According to tourists, this island state is the most comfortable and friendly place in the world, where every traveler finds something to their liking.
