Argentina’s most famous golfer will sit for two years

Argentine golfer Angel Cabrera was sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting his former companion, threats and harassment, as well as stealing her cell phone. Cabrera was arrested in Brazil in January at the request of Argentine prosecutors and extradited to his homeland in June. He himself categorically denies his guilt, his lawyers are preparing an appeal.

At the same time, several more charges of domestic violence were brought against Cabrera – including from the mother of his two children.

Angel Cabrera became the first Argentinean to win the US Open and then the Masters in the late 2000s. In the Argentine tournament, he won 28 times.
