The Bulgarian government has officially abolished simplified border controls between Bulgaria and Cyprus.
Let us remind you that from March 31, 2024, Bulgaria partially joined the Schengen zone, and Cyprus is not part of Schengen.
Thus, from March 31, it will be impossible for holders of national short-term visas, long-term visas, as well as residence permits issued by the Republic of Cyprus to enter Bulgaria.
At the same time, the Bulgarian authorities recognize the validity of short-term national visas, long-term national visas, and residence permits previously issued by the authorities of Croatia (part of Schengen from January 1, 2023) and Romania (partially included in Schengen from March 31, 2024).
In the case of Croatia, national visas and residence permits issued before December 31, 2022, are recognized. In the case of Romania, national visas and residence permits were issued before March 31, 2024. You can enter Bulgaria using such documents before their expiration date.
