The White House clarified earlier information about the speech of US President Joe Biden during his visit to Warsaw. The statement reads: “The President said that Putin should not be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or region. He did not discuss Putin’s power in Russia or regime change.”
From the Polish capital, Biden delivered a special speech last night after meeting with refugees from Ukraine. There, journalists asked him what he thought of Russian President Vladimir Putin after seeing the human suffering caused by the war. “He’s a butcher,” Biden replied.
A White House spokesman said Biden did not call for regime change in Russia.
His idea was that “Putin cannot be left to exercise power over his neighbors or the region,” the BNR source was quoted as saying.
In his speech, he called for:
“Do not be afraid! The dictator who decides to restore the empire will never erase the human love for freedom. Ukraine will never be defeated by Russia, because free people refuse to live in a world of hopelessness and darkness. For God’s sake, this one can’t stay in power!” Biden said.
The words of the American president provoked an immediate reaction from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
