Between July 17 and 23, more than 915 firearms attacks were carried out in the United States, resulting in more than 430 deaths. Another 1007 people were injured. This is reported by The Hill, citing data from the non-profit organization “Archive of Violence with the Use of Firearms” (GVA).
The publication writes that cases of violence with the use of firearms have become more frequent in the United States.
The largest number of cases of violence with the use of firearms was recorded in the US state of Illinois – (109). This is followed by Texas (63), Pennsylvania (59) and California (52).
In addition, more than 13,500 gun suicides have been committed in the United States since the beginning of the year.
At the same time, as a result of armed violence since the beginning of the year, more than 24 thousand people have died throughout the country, 800 of whom were under 18 years old, and 174 – under 12 years old.
In 2020, this figure exceeded 43 thousand, reaching the highest level in the last 20 years.
