Tesla CEO Elon Musk has sharply criticized US President Joe Biden, calling him a “puppet” who “thinks Americans are fools.” The reason for the manager’s anger was Biden’s post on Twitter, in which the head of state praised American manufacturers producing more and more electric vehicles.
Biden praised the achievements of General Motors and Ford in particular, but forgot to mention Tesla, the company that owns the majority of the green car market. The president met with General Motors CEO Mary Barr and Ford boss Jim Farley before tweeting a video discussing the automotive industry’s progress in sustainable mobility and praising companies for launching electric vehicles.
In response, Elon Musk attacked the president with criticism and insults: he recalled that in the United States there is a company whose name “starts with the letter T, ends with the letter A, and in the middle – ESL.” The businessman later added that the American leader was a “puppet in human form” who “thinks Americans are fools.”
Joe Biden has not yet answered Musk, General Motors and Ford are also silent. Despite significant investments by both companies in the electrification of the model range, Tesla is still the market leader in wireless cars in the US. The company sold 302,000 Model 3, Y, S and X electric vehicles to Americans last year, up 38.8% from 2020.
Tesla’s share price plummeted on Thursday, causing Musk’s fortune to also plummet by $21 billion, or 8.8 percent. However, the entrepreneur is still the richest person in the world in history according to Forbes. His fortune is currently estimated at 221.3 billion dollars.
