Trump announced that he launched his own social network called “Truth Social” after he was blocked in January by Twitter, Facebook and Youtube, who accused him of inciting his supporters to violence ahead of the storming of the Capitol, AFP reported.
“I created Truth Social and the Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) to counter the tyranny of tech giants,” the former president said in a statement, adding that his platform will launch in the first quarter of 2022.
“The big companies in Silicon Valley have unilaterally used their power to drown out the voices of dissidents in America,” Trump added.
Before being blocked by major social media, the Republican billionaire had about 89 million Twitter followers (announcing massive presidential decisions and noisy layoffs), 35 million on Facebook, and 24 million on Instagram.
The communiqué states that the Truth Social platform will be available in beta to invitees from November 2021. Trump’s new media group TMTG will include video streaming services such as entertainment and podcasts.
