UAE authorities have again extended expired tourist visas

The Directorate-General for Residence and International Relations in Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) has announced the extension of past tourist and guest visas valid for 30 and 90 days.

Thus, tourists with expired visas can legally stay in the United Arab Emirates until March 31, 2021. Travel agencies also confirmed that visas for some of their travelers were extended automatically.

Tourists who were forced to stay in the UAE after the closure of the borders of a number of countries due to the epidemic crisis, can check their visa status at www.amer.ae.

It is worth recalling that on December 27, 2020, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued instructions to extend tourist visas without charging additional fees.

The decision was due to the closure of airports in many countries around the world due to the spread of a new strain of coronavirus COVID-19. According to the order, visas were extended to all tourists staying in the UAE.

The decision allowed travelers and their families to spend the winter holidays in the United Arab Emirates. The relevant departments provided foreign guests with a safe stay.

It will be recalled that from January 31, 2021, preliminary PCR testing for the COVID-19 coronavirus has become mandatory for all tourists arriving in Dubai. The shelf life of the tests has been reduced from 96 to 72 hours (before the flight to Dubai).

Tourists arriving from Ukraine also take re-tests after landing at Dubai’s international airports. At present, rapid tests (PCR and for the presence of antigen) are available in the emirate’s air harbors, which significantly simplify the lives of travelers who took the tests before departure.

If the result is positive, travelers will be quarantined, which they will have to pay for themselves. In this regard, everyone who arrives must take out insurance to cover treatment for COVID-19 and stay in the observatory.

At the airport, travelers will also have to fill out a health declaration upon arrival. Newcomers will need to install the mobile application of the Dubai Health Department COVID19 – DXB Smart App on their smartphones.
