Turkey has banned night fishing in the Black Sea after a Russian-made mine was spotted and cleared near the Bosphorus today, Turkish media reported.
The decision was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, according to the website En son Haber.
“In view of the security of life and property of our people, all fishing activities, including small vessels, in the Black Sea waters between Bulgaria and Kefken from sunset to sunrise have been suspended from today (March 26, 2022) until further notice,” – the ministry announced.
Earlier today, a floating mine spotted in the Bosphorus area was cleared by Turkish sappers after it was spotted by fishermen in Istanbul’s Sarayer district.
Another mine-like object was later found dumped on the shores of the city of Karshamba in the Black Sea region of Samsun. In this case, the gendarmerie teams found that the item did not have explosive properties.
