Turkish taxi drivers will now require passports from foreign tourists

Turkish taxi drivers must now ask passengers to show official documents to avoid accusations of migrant trafficking, Hurriyet Daily News reported.

This measure is enshrined in the decision of the Ministry of the Interior of Turkey, which was brought to the attention of the chambers of commerce in all 81 districts of the country, the newspaper reports. “Milliet”. The new state applies to cases when a foreigner asks a taxi driver to take him to another district.

If a foreign citizen has the status of international protection in Turkey, he must present an identity card confirming this, as well as a document that is permission to leave.

If a foreigner is a tourist, he must present a passport for transportation.

If the driver makes the trip without asking for these documents, he will be fined and charged with migrant trafficking.
