With the onset of summer and the increase in tourist flow, vacationers are increasingly complaining about the restrictions that apply to resort hotels in Turkey. This is a ban on loud music, which was introduced during the coronavirus pandemic to prevent the spread of covid, and now repulses holidaymakers.
The silence practiced by hotels during the heyday allowed to disperse tourists. Thus, according to the authorities, it was possible to avoid new cases of infection. According to Turkish tourist media, although the epidemiological situation with the coronavirus in the country has improved, the introduced temporary limit on music broadcasting has not yet been lifted, which is very disappointing for tourists.
For example, this is the situation in Marmaris – a popular resort town on the Turkish Riviera. According to the president of the Marmaris Chamber of Commerce, the ban on music is a serious obstacle to tourism, and if this practice continues, a reduction in the number of tourists will be inevitable.
“Unfortunately, due to the pandemic over the last two years, we have had a difficult time in the field of tourism, which is one of the most important sources of income for our country. Due to quarantine measures and travel restrictions, almost all of Marmaris is experiencing a serious loss of income. While we are happy to finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief this year, unfortunately, restrictions on music broadcasting still apply and confuse tourists. Representatives of tour operators and travel agencies complain about this. We are concerned that foreign guests are disappointed to learn that the entertainment, which is one of the most important areas of the tourism sector, ends at 1:00 p.m. At the same time, the number of complaints is increasing. As a result, all this will reduce the projected number of tourists in the coming months,” the official complained.
According to him, the ban on Turkish rule in the hands of competitors, such as Spain or Greece. “As we have said many times, if this practice is not stopped, the tourist season will end without even starting this year. Our competitors are important markets in the tourism sector, such as Spain, and Greece … Unfortunately, the ban on music leaves us far behind in this race. We continue our initiatives in the relevant ministries to lift the ban,” said the expert.
