Lufthansa management and the Vereinigung Cockpit pilot union have finally reached an agreement on all critical issues. At the same time, the parties agreed to keep the details of the negotiations confidential.
Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo pilots have achieved a salary increase. This was agreed upon by the airline’s management and the pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit union. The basic salary will increase by 490 euros in two stages: from August 1, 2022, i.e. retroactively, and from April 1, 2023.
In addition, entry-level co-pilots will receive a bonus of about 20 percent of their base pay over the life of the agreement, while top-ranked captains will receive a 5.5 percent bonus.
The signed document includes a settlement agreement until June 30, 2023. A pilot strike is excluded during this period. Thus, passengers can plan their journeys calmly and confidently.
In the coming months, the parties promise to “continue a constructive exchange of views on various topics.” Lufthansa and Vereinigung Cockpit have agreed to remain confidential regarding additional topics and negotiations.
Deutsche Lufthansa AG Chief Human Resources and Labor Relations Officer Michael Niggemann said: “We are delighted to have reached this agreement with Vereinigung Cockpit. Increase in basic salary – a guarantee of a proportional increase in entry-level salaries. The next few months will be spent in a dialogue of trust with the Vereinigung Cockpit. The overall goal is to offer our pilots attractive and safe workplaces with prospects for further development.”
