Russian airlines are violating US air sanctions – such a declaration in the US Department of Justice accompanied the introduction of another embargo on Russian airlines that use Boeing aircraft.
According to the decision made by the US Department of Commerce, the sale of spare parts and maintenance services of American production abroad to Russian airlines is prohibited. According to the agency, this decision should also apply to companies in other countries that sell American-made parts or provide maintenance services to Russian airlines. In case of violation of this embargo, the United States threatens to impose sanctions against sellers.

As early as February 24, as part of sanctions, the United States introduced a licensing rule for all American-made aircraft or aircraft containing more than 25% of American spare parts. Such aircraft are subject to licensing if they are owned by Russian companies. On March 2, a similar law was introduced for Belarus.
It is alleged that the new decision on the embargo, taken by the United States, affected three Russian airlines, which have 141 Boeing aircraft in its fleet. These are Aeroflot, Azur Air and UTair. The companies continue to operate sanctioned aircraft – more than 170 Boeing aircraft, including about 40 Boeing 737 and 777 aircraft, despite the United States declaring that it seeks to deprive Russian airlines of the ability to fly both domestically and abroad by embargo.
“These companies are now cut off from international support, US spare parts and related services needed to maintain and maintain their fleet,” said Matthew Axelrod, the US Department of Commerce’s adviser on export compliance. He expects that the fleet of these three airlines will be largely deprived of the opportunity to continue flying in both international and domestic markets.
