Russian Ambassador to Russia Georgy Borisenko warned tourists about three non-trivial dangers in Egypt, Turprom reports. These dangers may not be obvious to some “relaxed” tourists – meanwhile, the Russian embassy has already had to deal with the serious problems they have caused.
The first of them – do not take risks and take photos and videos in non-tourist places – said the ambassador. “In Egypt, there are centuries-old traditions that need to be respected, including the right of locals to privacy. Therefore, for example, it is not necessary to take photos and videos in non-tourist places without demand, “he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Residents of “non-tourist” places can react in a very medieval spirit – as happened, for example, with a Russian tourist-photographer in the “city of garbage” in Cairo – read the details in the article “Medieval customs: a Russian tourist in Egypt was stoned.” And, by the way, the police may not be on the side of the tourist – as again shown by this sad experience.

The second Egyptian danger is the traffic rules adopted here. They are very specific and not very humane to pedestrians. Tourists are advised to be more careful when going on excursions and walks outside hotels “taking into account the difficult Egyptian traffic.”
The third danger is a souvenir. In Egypt, there is a ban on the import and export of ammunition, including bullets and shell casings. Naive tourists who wear such souvenirs as keychains, for example – and in Russia there are many such products – are seriously at risk.
“In recent months, such souvenirs have often been found in the luggage of compatriots. The result can be not only the inadmissibility of landing on the return flight and the need to then buy a ticket for another flight at their own expense, but also imprisonment. Our diplomats have repeatedly had to prevent such developments, “the diplomat stressed.
