According to the Bangkok Post, the Thai authorities may impose an exit tax on their citizens and foreigners with a permanent residence permit.
It is specified that the Tax Department of the kingdom on its website is now conducting a survey of the local population on this topic. The discussion of this issue will be held until May 17.
It is assumed that the fee for leaving the country by air will be 1,000 baht, by land or sea – 500 baht.
They want to introduce the tax in order to generate revenue for the state, as well as to reduce the spending of the country’s residents abroad.
