The border between the two European countries Sweden and Norway has shifted due to changes in the course of the river.
Thus, the area of Sweden in the west of the country increased by 500 square meters.
The changes became known thanks to aerial photographs of Norwegian border guards. Now they are preparing documents that will be sent to the Foreign Ministries of the two countries.
The official border change could occur in 2024.
The territory “moved” to Sweden belongs to a private landowner. According to him, these lands are protected, so their formal transfer to Swedish jurisdiction will not affect them in any way.
