According to BFM-TV, many ski resorts in the Alps and the Pyrenees face the problem of a lack of snow on the slopes.
So, in France, about half of the tracks are closed. The worst snow situation is in the French Pyrenees, where about 25% of the slopes are open.
A more favorable situation is observed in the southern part of the Alps, where approximately 75% of the slopes operate.
At the same time, several resorts, including La Pierre-Saint-Martin and Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, were forced to close completely.
Switzerland also suffers from insufficient snow cover on the slopes which has limited the operation of the resorts.
For example, at the resort in Leysin in the canton of Vaud, only six of the 23 ski slopes are open. In addition, it is impossible to use snow cannons to cover the slopes with artificial snow at the current temperature.
Forecasters in Switzerland promise that a cold snap will come to the country in early January.
