Singer Julio Iglesias was detained at the Dominican Republic airport because of 40 kg of food in his luggage

According to Dominican Today, Spanish singer Julio Iglesias was detained at the Dominican Republic airport due to 40 kg of food in his luggage.

The incident occurred at Punta Cana airport. The singer’s luggage, which arrived from the Bahamas, contained fresh food — chicken, strawberries, raspberries, beets, spinach, and other vegetables and fruits.

The contents of the suitcase were confiscated since the import of food into the Dominican Republic was prohibited.

The singer himself and those traveling with him were released after the intervention of the Dominican authorities.
