Russians began burying euros in the forests of Finland before returning to Russia

Citizens of the Russian Federation, returning from Finland to Russia and carrying foreign cash, came up with an unusual way to avoid confiscating currency at the border. Those who do not want to spend money in border shops leave banknotes in the nearby forest.

So, Russian tourists fearing the seizure of several hundred euros by the Finnish customs decided to go to the nearest forest. They chose a secluded place, packed the banknotes in polyethylene, put them in a small bottle, and buried them next to a tree. After turning on geolocation, the resourceful travelers then photographed the area with their smartphones. Later they plan to use the coordinates to collect their money.

Since last month, there have been regular reports that on the Russian-Finnish border, customs officers seize foreign currency from citizens of the Russian Federation (against signature and return it on the next visit) or offer to spend it at the nearest retail outlets in Finland. Moreover, some Russians talk about the confiscation of hundreds or even thousands of euros, while others – about the absence of case questions.
