The return of the ferry from Sochi to Turkey, which was planned for May 11, will not take place, the launch of the ferry has been disrupted. The owner of the Turkish travel company Şolt Tur said that the delay was caused by problems with the insurance of the liner, but also clarified that the ferry service is planned to start “after the elections” and closer to the end of May.
We will remind you that we are talking about the return of the ferry crossing from Sochi to the Turkish Trabzon, a city on the Black Sea. It was planned that there will be one ferry on the Trabzon-Sochi line, and the travel time will be 8 hours. It was planned that the ferry would depart from Trabzon on Mondays and Thursdays, and from Sochi on Tuesdays and Fridays. It was planned to deliver both cars and buses, as well as just passengers.
However, the launch of the ferry service, scheduled for May 11, was disrupted. As explained by Fatosh Solt, the owner of the Şolt Tur travel agency, and the operator of the ferry, he said that the first flight was postponed to the end of May. Turkish media quoted him as saying that the Trabzon-Sochi ferry service was being delayed due to insurance problems, in a statement he made to the Russian news agency RIA.
“We are trying to resolve the issue with ferry insurance. We plan to launch a ferry service after the elections in Turkey,” he was quoted as saying by the mass media. Roughly, according to the owner of the travel agency, it is possible to predict that the launch of the ferry will take place by the end of May.
