Travel blogger, who often travels around Turkey, named the most overrated dishes by tourists. She talked about this on her blog.
“I love the national cuisine of Turkey: juicy kebab, spicy bulgur cutlets, thick lentil soup, baklava for dessert – not food, but a fairy tale,” the girl said. “But I’ll still be objective: sometimes residents pass off something not very tasty as masterpieces.”
Thus, the tourist recommended vacationers not spend money on shirdan – cabbage rolls made from offal and cabbage or grape leaves.
“Outwardly, the dish resembles a male genital organ. Of course, tourists immediately became interested in them! It’s highly overrated though. The taste of cabbage rolls from offal is less interesting than it looks, ”admitted the author of the blog.
In addition, she warned vacationers against local puddings, as they often contain harmful ingredients.
“Tourists actively lean on puddings and think that they are eating masterpieces of local cuisine. Most puddings contain only sugar, starch, flavoring, and coloring, sometimes cocoa powder. Better give up this dessert in favor of baklava and other Turkish sweets, ”the tourist said.
Another overrated dish, according to the blogger, was manti. The tourist advised “to save a place in the stomach for something more worthy,” since there is practically no meat in Turkish dumplings.
