Popular with tourists Maya Bay on the Phi Phi Islands in Thailand, where the film “The Beach” with Leonardo DiCaprio was filmed, is again closed to the public.
The bay will be closed to tourists for two months, from August 1 to September 30, for the rehabilitation of the local ecosystem.
Local authorities believe that the “environmental holidays” for three years have been beneficial for the bay: the marine flora and fauna began to feel much better. It was decided to continue this practice.
