The popular Thai taxi booking app Grab intends to expand its range at the beginning of next year to the most popular and accessible segment of passenger transportation for tourists. According to the company, an application for ordering Tuk-Tuks will be launched for tourists in Phuket in January. Moreover, prices are promised to be significantly reduced.
In general, as reported by the Thai press, GrabTukTuk, the new application will include about 100 tuk-tuk cars for the convenience of tourists. According to the company’s statement, this will help “residents and tourists book local tuk-tuk services” and “support local drivers”. At the same time, they promise to keep prices at a reasonable level, as well as fight against fraudsters.
“The application aims to raise the standards of fares, service quality, and safety of taxi services in Phuket. We also expect that its availability and convenience will encourage residents to use their cars for legal earnings or additional income,” said Grab Thailand Chief Executive Officer Vorrachat Lakhanaroy. The company’s experts also invited local tuk-tuk drivers to apply for partnership.
