A passenger on an overcrowded plane en route to Cancun proposed to a girl at the toilet door and became the subject of a viral video. Embarrassing footage of the “touching moment” posted by the Daily Mail made social media users laugh.
The footage shows how an air passenger is on one knee and holds a box with a ring in his hands. The fellow travelers who were sitting behind him took out their phones and waited for the girl to leave the toilet. Some of them were holding papers prepared by the groom in advance with the inscription “Will you marry me?”
Since the girl was in no hurry to leave the restroom, her man began to knock on the door. Finally, the unsuspecting bride-to-be came out of the bathroom and was stunned by what was happening. She screamed with joy and immediately “with jubilation” accepted the offer, and her fellow travelers met her consent with unanimous applause.
The video went viral in a matter of moments, gaining millions of views and thousands of comments.
An unusual way to propose caused controversy among commentators – a camp was formed of those who considered this moment quite romantic:
“I’m not a fan of dramatic proposals, but I really like this. No drama. Filled with real people, not staged extras,” one user wrote.
“I like the way the passengers were involved,” said a second.
“Everyone understood the task, it’s unusual and beautiful, and I wish you both happiness for life,” added a third.
However, there were also dozens of other viewers who believe that the proposal leaves much to be desired.
“I hope no one ever does this to me… in a moving plane that I can’t get out of… with strangers,” one commenter shared her concerns.
“I would say no if my husband proposed this way … after the toilet,” added another.
“Never do that!” – gave advice to one of the users.
The publication organized an online survey among readers: they consider the proposal in the video romantic or awkward. With an overwhelming advantage – 74 percent of the vote – the second option won.
