The German Ministry of Health plans to cancel some “cunning” decisions to enter the country for tourists in the summer, including the 3G rule. However, experts note that the decision is disappointing: first, the cancellation was announced only by the end of August, ie? there is a risk that the restrictions will return in the fall. Secondly, there are restrictions for countries that are considered “areas of virus transmission”, although so far there is no country on this list.
The Minister of Health of Germany, Karl Lauterbach, announced to the local media that from June 1, Germany will lift several restrictions on travel imposed through COVID-19. he also noted the following:
“By the end of August, we will terminate the 3G entry rule.” It will be recalled that this rule requires tourists who enter to present a valid certificate of vaccination, recovery, or testing to enter the country. Until the end of May, therefore, only those who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are allowed to enter Germany, while those who have not been vaccinated cannot enter the country unless they travel for good reasons. As a result, it was decided to repeal this rule for the summer season, as Europe generally “cancels” the coronavirus, but officials have retained the possibility of restarting this regime.
It is also stated that those arriving from so-called “coronavirus-prone countries” will continue to be subject to travel restrictions, including a 14-day quarantine upon arrival, regardless of vaccination status. Currently, no country on the German list is considered an area for the spread of the virus and new strains, but again, officials have retained this opportunity.
“If such areas are identified, people entering the country must be quarantined. Even with lower morbidity rates in the summer, we must be careful in the event of a global pandemic, “said the head of the German Ministry of Health.
