Turkey seeks to strengthen its position in the field of world tourism. To do this, it is necessary to develop the tourism industry as much as possible in all provinces of the republic, and not rely only on popular resorts. This was stated by Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a meeting of the Federation of Hoteliers in the country.
“Our state should be at the center of the new world order, use all the possibilities of the changing global political and economic architecture,” the head of the republic explained.
According to him, some media are trying to manipulate the opinion of tourists, pumping up information about allegedly unsafe holidays in Turkey. “But a couple of terrorists are not capable of stopping the development of tourism in the country,” Recep Erdogan commented on the recent terrorist attack in Istanbul.
As confirmation of his position, the president outlined specific figures: in 2021, Turkey ranked fourth in the world in terms of tourist flow and eighth in terms of budget revenue from the tourism industry. At the same time, by the end of 2022, these figures are expected to be even higher.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan also noted that now the main task is to maximize the growth of foreign tourists and the profitability of the tourism industry. For this, tourism should develop even in the most remote provinces of the country. However, this approach will require enhanced training of personnel employed in the tourism industry. “We are no longer students and apprentices in tourism, but real masters,” the President concluded.
