The Cypriot authorities have decided to expand the list of covid restrictions again in connection with the spread of a new strain of coronavirus. New requirements will also affect the rules of entry into the country for foreign tourists.
According to the decree of the Minister of Health of Cyprus, from December 15, all travelers arriving in the republic within 72 hours after crossing the border must undergo a rapid antigen test. This procedure will be absolutely free for tourists. The test can be taken at the sampling points of the Ministry of Health upon presentation of a boarding pass and an identity document.
In addition, Cypriot officials have introduced new requirements for holding public events in the country on New Year’s Eve. In particular, entry to any festivities, including in hotels, is allowed only upon presentation of a certificate of vaccination with at least one dose of the drug from COVID-19 or the results of a PCR test. This measure will be valid until January 1, 2022.
Also, from December 6 in Cyprus, all foreign tourists were obliged to take a PCR test upon arrival. The procedure is compulsory even for vaccinated travelers; only children under 12 years of age are exempt from it. The cost of the test is 15 euros.
