After the optimization in China of the policy for the prevention and control of the spread of coronavirus, various industries began to revive in the country. One of them, tourism, demonstrates the potential for a rapid recovery to pre-pandemic levels, writes China daily.
Indicative in terms of the return of normal tourist activity, the newspaper calls the past three days of the New Year holidays in the capital of China. Between December 31 and January 2, Beijing saw a significant increase in visits to attractions by citizens.
Thus, in three days, about 2.7 million citizens visited 151 places of cultural leisure in Beijing. This figure is 86.4 percent of the number of residents and guests of the Chinese capital who visited recreation areas in 2019, the newspaper writes.
Notably, the income of the respective leisure facilities also increased, reaching 248 million yuan (approximately $35 million) in three days, up 44.5 percent from 2019. Various performances were very popular with the citizens and guests of Beijing. The 75 theaters operating in the capital organized 303 shows, which is comparable to the figures for 2019.
China’s tourism industry is expected to continue to recover dynamically in the near future. This should be facilitated by further easing of severe anti-covid restrictions in China.
