The “bedbug disaster” has swept the globe — insects have moved from Paris to all popular destinations, from London to Seoul and Hong Kong.
For example, in Hong Kong, people are massively purchasing insect control products and hiring pest control services. According to residents, bedbugs have also taken over public transport.
But tourists who planned to go to Europe on Christmas Eve are canceling their trips.
Tourists are reminded that bed bugs can be very difficult to spot as they are most active at night. However, their bites do not transmit disease, but cause severe itching and are recognizable by clusters of red bumps on areas of the body that are usually not covered, such as the neck, arms, and legs.
