Bandits in New York began shooting tourists with pistols

The most popular city on the entire continent has become dangerous for tourists: in New York, a British tourist found himself in the center of a “showdown” and received two bullets when bandits started shooting with pistols. As the tourist himself assures, he was “lucky to be alive.”

The US press reported the following details: UK tourist Cameron Robertson, 41, miraculously survived after being hit by two bullets fired by masked gunmen on the streets of Brooklyn while on holiday with his 42-year-old wife Jill. The tourists went to New York for four days, their main goal was a rock concert on September 17.

After the concert, everything happened. The couple were walking to the supermarket when gunfire erupted. “We heard a bang, my wife heard screams and we jumped into the deli next to us. That’s when I realized I had been shot, first in the arm,” Robertson said. He stated that it was very painful, but his wife quickly understood the situation, putting pressure on the wound and stopping the bleeding.

“Then the police came, checked my entire chest to make sure there were no wounds, and then applied tourniquets. After that, paramedics quickly arrived and took over the matter,” said the tourist.

He was quickly rushed to a local hospital, where he learned that one bullet had gone straight through his arm and the other was lodged in his thigh.

The tourist was allowed to leave the hospital at around 11 am the next morning with a letter clearing him to fly back to England. The pair landed around 8 p.m.

“Virgin Airways was great and took good care of me,” the tourist added.

According to him, in the end, he was lucky to escape with minor injuries. But his wife is still struggling with the “mental consequences” of the incident. The tourist had surgery in the UK to remove the bullet and will be sent back to New York to help with the investigation. Presumably, the tourist got caught in a showdown between police and bandits. Moreover, the shooters remain at large, the media adds.
