Edition Le Parisien writes that a 27-year-old American tourist was raped in the center of Paris.
The incident took place in a public toilet at the Pont Louis-Philippe on the right bank of the Seine, in a busy and popular place with tourists. Nearby are Notre Dame Cathedral and the city hall.
The tourist went to the toilet at about one in the morning, her companion remained to wait outside. Hearing the screams of his girlfriend, he went inside and found the rapist. Together with the guards, the man managed to detain him.
The perpetrator was a 23-year-old Algerian living in the suburbs of Paris.
