A new passenger port in the Amasra region of the Black Sea province of Bartin, famous for its historical sights, natural beauties, and rich culinary culture, will receive a cruise ship on August 3.
The construction of the port is estimated at 78 million liras and is nearing completion.
As part of the Passenger Pier and Marina project in the port of Amasra, the construction of a breakwater has begun, and 90 percent of the work has been completed to date.
The project was implemented based on a tender by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey, held in 2018.
Upon completion of all works, the port of Amasra will become an important center for cruise tourism.
The first vessel to arrive at the port will be the Astoria Grande from Russia, carrying 350 passengers and 300 staff. Preparations for the acceptance of the vessel under the flag of Panama have been completed.
The ship started its journey from Sochi and proceeded through the Turkish straits.
Passengers of the ship have the opportunity to get acquainted with the historical and natural beauties of the region and taste traditional Turkish cuisine.
Last November, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a decree declaring the Amasra cruise port a permanent maritime border gate open to international passenger traffic.
The port will receive tourists not only from Italy, Great Britain, Spain, Germany, Bulgaria, Russia, and Ukraine, but also guests from other European countries arriving in the Black Sea via the Danube.
In the first stage, it is planned to attract 55 thousand tourists, and in the long term 200 thousand.
